In order to support its goals the foundation needs funding. The initial capital was provided by the Founders.
Part of the purpose is to supply the public with trustable Internet services that enhance security, privacy and liberty. Surplus from such services will be used to further the Foundation’s other goals.
In addition, donations from the public are accepted via different channels, including Flattr. The Foundation may also apply for grants from other foundations and institutions to support its goals.
The first spontaneous donation came from Robert Estermann, an artist based in Berlin, who gave 20 € in cash to the foundation’s chairman, who then deposited the amount into the foundation’s bank account. Thanks!
